Go Sober – Macmillan fundraising month

Every October, Macmillan Cancer Support encourages people to sign up to Go Sober for October, 31 days without alcohol whilst raising money for the charity.

The charity asks you to be a Soberhero by saying no to the booze and yes to raising money for people living with cancer. They recognise this is not an easy challenge for some and provide tips throughout the month on their website and Facebook page.

Not only is the Macmillan hoping to raise vital funds for their essential cancer support charity, but they’re also trying to raise awareness of the health benefits of drinking less. The graphic above shows some of the positive side effects of giving up alcohol for one month.

We must say though if you drink heavily please seek advice before going sober as it may be risky for you to do this without medically advised assistance. Take a look at our page ‘Dangers of Detox‘ for guidance.

If you’d like to get involved or learn more about the fundraising Go Sober month, visit Macmillan’s website. We’ll be writing articles throughout October on Detox and changing the way you drink, keep checking back.
