Treatment Models Offered

Our Treatment Models

Click on one of the models below to find out more information. Programmes are tailored, but as a guide, the following shows typical treatment models used at Regain Recovery.

Individual Assessments

We will conduct an individualised assessment during your first two days at our treatment centre.  The purpose of the assessment is to determine the extent of your dependency and whether there are co-occurring conditions. This, in turn, will assist in the development of your individualised treatment plan.

One to One Daily Therapy Sessions

One to one therapy is offered on a daily basis throughout the week during your stay.

Through one to one therapy, you can start to understand more about who you are and help you to lead a more fulfilling life. You will begin to understand better how you have become the person you are. Therapy will help you to reconnect with aspects and parts of yourself that you may have unconsciously suppressed, which in turn will help you to become ‘who you really are’.

Group Therapy

Group therapy consists of groups as small as three or four but can often involve as many as six individuals. The group meets on a daily basis for one hour and together with the therapist, you are encouraged to share your experiences and work on endeavouring to understand yourself better.

The aim of group therapy is to:

  • Help people identify their own behaviours and differences better;
  • By discussing emotional difficulties with other group members you will get support, feedback and practical tips from those who have had similar experiences. The aim is to help you learn your own coping methods and learn how to handle issues when they arise;
  • It is an opportunity to receive feedback and advice from your peers and to reach out and support others.
  • All group discussions are confidential and by speaking with people going through similar difficulties, helps you to feel less isolated and more supported.
Psycho-educational

A psycho-educational group is a specific type of group therapy designed to educate clients about substance abuse, related behaviours and consequences.

It looks at ways in which clients can cope and the principles of the group are CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) based.

EMDR

EMDR – or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach used extensively and proven very effective in the treatment of trauma, substance abuse, depression, panic disorders and anxiety.

It helps a person see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way.

Mindfulness

Is a very simple form of meditation focusing your full attention on your breath as it flows in and out of your body. As you focus on each breath, it allows you to observe your thoughts as they arise in your mind.

It also involves paying attention to your own thoughts and feelings without judging them, without believing there’s a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to think.

Expression through Art and Music

Self-expression is important. It allows us to describe how we feel and can highlight our individuality and provides an opportunity for the release of emotions.

At Regain Recovery partner centres, they will encourage self-expression through art and music. We all have a ‘child’ within us. You can encourage your ‘inner child’s’ self-expression through process-orientated art which helps you deal with emotions such as anger and sadness.

Music also helps reduce stress and one is encouraged to express one’s self through music by choosing a piece and sharing what that particular piece of music (or song) means to you.

A therapist will guide you through the process covering each aspect for each of the Expressions.

Family Support

Family support is an indispensable resource when helping your loved one recover from their addiction.

Not only is the family involvement necessary for the loved-one to recover, and feel supported, but family bonds and relationships often need to be mended.

It is important that everyone is aware of how they can influence the process and how they may need to change their own behaviour also.
